Revanth’s new choice of Reddy, Kamma combination

·     Still, TDP cadre of two Telugu states owns its leader

Amaravati: Telangana Chief Minister and dynamic leader A Revenath Reddy has now emerged as the choice of Reddy and Kamma communities in the two Telugu States. First time after taking charge as the Chief Minister of Telangana state, Revenath Reddy is all set to land in Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh on March 15. He will address the public and steel plant employees in a public meeting.   

Previously, he visited Andhra Pradesh several times and was in the position of leader of Telugu Desam. Now he is coming to Andhra Pradesh on behalf of the Congress party. But Telugu Desam has entered an election alliance with BJP which is an opponent to the Congress party at national politics as well as in the state.

In this backdrop, Revanth Reddy’s meeting assumed political significance. Interestingly, the major communities of Reddys and Kammas along with the Telugu Desam cadre owned him as their representative.    

He is the only leader in recent politics who emerged as a leader of two dominant castes –Kammas and Reddys—after the late NT Rama Rao. Though TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu had given utmost priority to Reddys with eight Cabinet minister posts allotted to them in his tenure in the undivided state of Andhra Pradesh but the political fight with the late Rajasekhar Reddy could not get that image in the masses at grass root level. Chandrababu Naidu had maintained good relations and friendships with many Reddy leaders like the late Rajasekhar Reddy and Bojjala Gopala Krishna Reddy. It is well known in the Chittoor district politics.  

Indeed, Revanth Reddy also got very good political opportunities with the support of Chandrababu Naidu which finally now led Revanth to becoming the Chief Minister. Revanth Reddy’s commitment, political work in Telugu Desam, and respect for Chandrababu Naidu gained the minds of rank and file of Telugu Desam in the two Telugu States.

Reddy community who has a dominant track record in politics extended their support as their representative to hold the power in Telangana politics. The Kamma community also supported him out of anger with former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s attitude towards Telugu Desam and its boss Chandrababu Naidu. As a result, he became a united representative of two major communities.
