Following the orders of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh government is developing an action plan to combat cannabis cultivation using drones. The officials have already eradicated cannabis crops on 3.55 acres in Anakapalle district with the assistance of drones.
The state government plans to implement a programme that connects multi-spectral cameras, which capture high-definition images, to drones to detect cannabis plants even if they have grown up to 3 feet tall. Cannabis cultivation will be monitored through satellite hotspots, with support from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Google, to locate cannabis plants effectively. The government's objective is to completely eliminate cannabis cultivation in the region.
