The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has entrusted the crucial responsibility of coordinating the Vijayawada Parliament segment and its associated assembly segments to the seasoned party leader and former minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao. This move comes amidst a backdrop of significant discontent brewing within the party ranks, particularly concerning Uma Maheswara Rao’s exclusion from the forthcoming general elections in the Mylavaram Assembly segment.
Uma Maheswara Rao, a prominent figure within the TDP, has expressed serious dissatisfaction over the party’s decision not to nominate him for the upcoming elections in Mylavaram. Instead, the party opted to grant the party ticket to Vasantha Krishna Prasad, the incumbent MLA who recently defected from the YSR Congress Party.
Adding to Uma Maheswara Rao’s disenchantment is the lack of alternative opportunities provided by the party, denying him the chance to contest from any other assembly constituency. These developments have significantly exacerbated tensions within Uma Maheswara Rao, highlighting internal discord within the party.
In a bid to assuage these mounting concerns, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu personally intervened, engaging in discussions with Uma Maheswara Rao to address his grievances. As a result of these deliberations, Uma Maheswara Rao has been appointed as the election coordinator for the Vijayawada MP segment, signalling a concerted effort by the party leadership to mitigate internal strife.
