AP Govt Sanctions ₹3,220 Crore to Complete 5.99 Lakh Pending Houses
The Andhra Pradesh government has approved an additional assistance of ₹3,220 crore to complete 5.99 lakh pending houses for SC, ST, BC, and Adivasi Tribal (PVTG) beneficiaries. The funds will be directly deposited into beneficiaries' accounts in four installments at different stages of construction, announced P. Rajababu, MD of the State Housing Corporation, on Tuesday.
Support for Incomplete PMAY Houses
Between 2016 and 2024, 7.32 lakh houses were sanctioned under PMAY (1.0) and Pradhan Mantri Janman Schemes, but many remain incomplete due to rising construction costs. The previous YSRCP government had set the unit cost at ₹1.80 lakh, but due to increased material and labor costs, many beneficiaries fell into debt and halted construction.
Financial Assistance Breakdown
To revive stalled projects, the coalition government led by CM Chandrababu Naidu has introduced additional financial support:
SC & BC beneficiaries – ₹50,000
ST beneficiaries – ₹75,000
Adivasi Tribal (PVTG) beneficiaries – ₹1 lakh
This initiative aims to help the poor fulfill their dream of owning a home, ensuring that stalled projects are completed swiftly.
