Following her, Vishmi Gunaratne became the second player to score a century in ODI cricket for Sri Lanka, making her the youngest player to achieve this feat in international cricket for Sri Lanka.
Vishmi scored 101 runs off 98 balls with 3 sixes and 9 fours in the first ODI against Ireland. This also made her the second player to score a century in ODI cricket for Sri Lanka.
Additionally, Vishmi has claimed the record for scoring a century for Sri Lanka in a limited overs match at the age of 18 years (360 days), erasing the previous record held by Chamani Senevirat. Asanka Gurusinha, on the other hand, became the youngest batsman in men’s cricket for Sri Lanka, scoring an unbeaten 116 in the third Test against Pakistan in Colombo in 1986 at the age of 19 years and 187 days.
