WinZO, an online gaming firm, has announced its partnership with the government-backed e-commerce platform Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). This collaboration will allow ONDC to list its services on WinZO Store, granting access to 17.5 crore WinZO users. The CEO of ONDC, T Koshy, stated that their aim is to revolutionize the digital commerce industry, highlighting Indian talent and innovation. Additionally, WinZO Store charges a single-digit commission, a significant difference from the 30% commission charged by other leading distribution platforms.
DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv also mentioned that their goal is to establish a public digital infrastructure similar to UPI, tailored for India. By partnering with WinZO, ONDC aims to reach a wider user base across the country, even in remote areas, and raise awareness about its significance in the rapidly growing tech-enabled commerce in Bharat.
Furthermore, WinZO collaborates with third-party developers to offer personalized multiplayer gameplay experiences in 12 languages. Co-Founder Paavan Nanda expressed his vision for the future, drawing parallels to the impact of UPI on payments in 2018 and the emergence of companies like theirs. Nanda believes that the integration of WinZO and ONDC will pave the way for more innovative ventures in the digital commerce space.
