Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Wednesday that a total of 13,661 people have been hired across various state government departments in the past six years. The BJP has been in power in the northeastern state since 2018. The majority of the vacancies, 12,289 in total, were filled in the Group C category to strengthen the lower level of the administration, while 541 appointments were also made in the Group A category. The Chief Minister mentioned that opposition parties have been protesting, claiming that there have been no government sector appointments despite numerous vacant positions. However, the CM clarified that 13,661 posts have indeed been filled in the last six years, in addition to the contractual and outsourcing appointments in various departments. He also emphasized that many women are involved in self-employment programs. The Chief Minister argued against the opposition’s allegation of a lack of fresh employment opportunities and also criticized the previous Left Front government, alleging that job aspirants once had to have good relations with the ruling party to secure government sector appointments.
