The central government has released Rs. 5,858.60 crores in flood relief funds to 14 states across India. The funds have been allocated from the State Disaster Response Fund and the National Disaster Response Fund by the Union Home Ministry.
Central teams that visited the flood-affected areas in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Assam, Mizoram, Kerala, Tripura, Nagaland, Gujarat, and Manipur states provided the report based on which these funds were allocated for immediate aid.
The central government has announced that Maharashtra will receive the maximum flood aid of Rs. 1,492 crore, followed by Rs. 1,036 crores for Andhra Pradesh and Rs. 416 crores for Telangana. However, the Union Home Ministry will consider granting additional funds once the complete report from the central teams is received.
