Vijayawada: June 7: In a dramatic escalation of political tensions, activists of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) carried out attacks on the residences of two prominent political figures, former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi and former Minister from the YSR Congress Party, Kodali Nani on Friday.
The first incident occurred at Vamsi’s house in Vijayawada, where a large number of TDP workers gathered, creating significant commotion. Reports indicate that numerous cars approached Vamsi’s residence, and upon learning that Vamsi was inside, the activists attempted to break through the gates. Armed with sticks and stones, the youths vandalized cars in the cellar, escalating the tension.
Meanwhile, a tense situation unfolded at Kodali Nani’s residence in Gudivada when TDP workers, led by Potluri Darshit, a notable figure in the Amaravati capital movement, threw chicken eggs at the house. The protesters set off crackers and chanted “Chandrababu Zindabad” slogans. In a symbolic act of defiance, Darshit threw down the YSR Congress election symbol, a fan, and kicked it, declaring that YSR leaders would face a similar fate. He demanded that Kodali Nani withdraw from political life.
The presence of a significant number of TDP activists at both locations created highly charged atmospheres. Police intervened to disperse the crowds and prevent further escalation. At Vamsi’s residence, a police picket was established, and an iron fence was erected to secure the area. Police confiscated sticks and rods from the youths, working to restore order.
Efforts by the police to quell the disturbance at Kodali Nani’s residence led to a scuffle between law enforcement and the TDP youth. Gudivada One Town circle inspector Indra Srinivas and TDP youth leader Nimmagadda Satya Sai were reportedly involved in a clash. Under the supervision of DSP Srikanth, a bandobast was organized to maintain order.
