Nearly 300 pujaris gathered at Dharmavaram in Anantapur district on Sunday. Kavuri Lakshmi Varaprasad, who is US-based NRI and honorary president of the organisation, said that their demand is very genuine.

He explained that nearly 8000 pujaris are extending their services in various traditional and ancient temples like Poleramma, Polerayya, Gangaanamma, and Naga Devatalu. He further said that the entire section of people were preserving the Hindu traditions and culture. The main demand of pujaris is to pay an honorarium of Rs 5000 monthly by the government like for pastors and other temple priests.

The pujaris requested the political parties to give assurance on the occasion of elections. Later they can implement their demand
