Telangana CM Revanth Sarkar received relief from the High Court regarding the locality of students (GVO 33). The court has upheld the plea concerning MBBS admissions and suggested that the applications of the petitioners should be considered only after verifying their locality. This implies that the students must be permanent residents of Telangana.
The court has directed Kaloji University to follow these guidelines, stating that eligible students’ applications should be considered. A petition has been filed in the High Court challenging the Telangana Government’s JVO 33 related to locality. The petitioners argue that the government’s amendments will disadvantage Telangana students.
They believe it’s unfair to apply local quota rules to those who studied Intermediate in Telangana and two years prior to that. They claim that the government’s decision will harm those who were born and raised in Telangana. After hearing both sides, the court upheld the government’s order.
