Telangana presents budget of Rs 2.91 lakh crore for 2024-25

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Thursday presented a budget of Rs 2.91 lakh crore with a total Rs 2.21 lakh crore revenue and Rs 33, 487 crore capital expenditures in the Legislative Assembly. 

The total revenues were estimated to be at Rs 2,90, 814 crore, including Open Market Loans of over Rs 57,000 crore. Deputy Chief Minister, Incharge of Finance portfolio Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka who tabled the Budget in the Assembly said the state government proposed to allocate Rs 72,659 crores to agriculture. The government also proposed to spend Rs.21,292 crores for the Education department and Rs.22,301 crores for Irrigation. In this budget we have proposed Rs.29,816 crores for Panchayath Raj and Rural Development.

 “Telangana’s debt has reached Rs 6.71 lakh crore mark. In the last 10 years the state government debt has increased by ten times without any development proportionate to that,” Bhatti pointed out. After the congress government took over, Rs 35,118 crore debt was raised while repaid loans worth Rs 42.892 crore, both principal and interest, he added.

The state government has also proposed to borrow Rs 57,112 crore this year. These are the Telangana Budget Plans Estimated fiscal deficit is Rs.49,255.41 crores The preliminary deficit estimate is Rs.31,525.63 crore The revenue surplus is estimated at Rs.297.42 crores 72,659 crores for agriculture 737 crores for the Horticulture Department 1,980 crores for Animal Husbandry Department Rs.500 gas cylinder scheme Rs. 723 crores 2,418 crores to Grihajyoti 3836 crores for public distribution system 29,816 crores to Panchayat Raj, Rural Development Department 1,525 crores for Regional Ring Road (RRR). 

For women and child welfare Rs. 2,736 crores SC welfare Rs.33,124 crores ST welfare Rs.17,056 crores Minority welfare Rs.3,003 crores BC welfare Rs.9,200 crores Medical, Health Rs. 11,468 crores 16,410 crores to Transco, DISCOMs Forests, Environment Rs.1,064 crores Industries Department Rs. 2,762 crores 774 crores for the IT department 22,301 crores for irrigation sector 21,292 crores for education 9,564 crores to the Home Department 5,790 crores for Roads and Buildings Department
