Telangana High Court dismisses KCR’s petition

KCR’s petition against Judicial inquiry into power irregularities

BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s petition challenging the Judiciary Commission’s inquiry into alleged electricity irregularities was dismissed by the Telangana High Court.

The court upheld the government’s arguments and ruled in favor of the commission’s formation to investigate the allegations. The High Court’s decision comes after three days of hearings on the petition filed by KCR, Telangana’s first Chief Minister, who sought to quash the notices issued by Justice L Narasimha Reddy.

Justice Narasimhar Reddy had appointed a commission of inquiry on March 14, 2023, to look into the alleged irregularities in the construction of the Yadadri and Bhadradri thermal power stations and power purchase agreements between Chhattisgarh and Telangana during KCR’s tenure. KCR’s petition aimed to nullify the commission’s formation, arguing that the inquiry was unjustified.

However, after hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court reserved its judgment, which was delivered today, dismissing KCR’s petition.
