TDP’s ‘Chalo Macherla’ call sparks tension in Palnadu

The Capital News
Palnadu, May 22: The Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) call for ‘Chalo Macherla’ on Thursday, aimed at visiting TDP workers injured in election day riots in the Macherla constituency, has heightened tensions in the area. The TDP planned visit of the victims who were attacked by YSRCP activists during the polling held on the 13th of this month.
The TDP team intended to start their visit from the residence of Julakanti Brahma Reddy, the TDP in-charge of Macherla, to show support for the injured workers. However, the district superintendent of police (SP) has announced that the ‘Chalo Macherla’ march will not be permitted.
In response to the planned march, the police have implemented house arrests of several TDP leaders as a precautionary measure to prevent any potential disturbances. Former minister Nakka Ananda Babu, TDP leaders Julakanti Brahma Reddy, and Kanaparthi Srinivasa Rao have all been placed under house arrest.
The TDP leaders expressed strong displeasure with the police actions, arguing that they are being unfairly prevented from visiting and supporting their injured party members. They are particularly aggrieved by what they see as an obstruction to their efforts to aid those harmed by YSRCP activists.
