TDP stages protest…ECI order on pension turns a new controversy 

May month pension door delivery is immediate task 

••1.5 lakh employees of 15,000 secretariats can deliver in a day

Amaravati: April 27 : The non-cooperation of government machinery for pension door delivery is going to be a new controversy between the Chief Secretary, NDA parties, and the Election Commission of India.

It may be recalled that the Election Commission of India has issued orders not to involve the volunteers for pension door delivery. The ECI has also directed the State government to make alternative plans for pension door delivery. 

But the State government under the supervision of Chief Secretary distributed pensions at secretariats instead of door delivery against the directions of Election Commission of India. The State government didn’t take up alternative plans for door delivery. It distributed pensions only at doorsteps for disabled persons partially. 

In this backdrop, the orders of the Election Commission of India (ECI) restricting the volunteers for pension delivery at doorsteps turned out a political controversy. The leaders  of both YSR Congress and TDP are hurling allegations against each other for the situation. The 64 lakh pension holders should get pension at door steps if the alternative plans are implemented. 

As per the reports, the government machinery led by the Chief Secretary shows  the inability to deliver pension at the doorstep for May month also like previous April month. 

In this backdrop. the NDA leaders including TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu wrote letters to the ECI and the state government to deliver pension at doorsteps using alternative methods. As per the demand of TDP , the pension amount can be dispensed at the doorstep using the staff of secretariat employees. As many as 15000 secretariats are in the state containing 1.65 lakh staff. 

As per the view of TDP, if every secretariat employee is allotted 50 pension holders to deliver the pension amount it can be completed the whole pension disbursement process in a matter of one day or two days maximum.

TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders of the party squarely blamed the State government. They said the state government is intentionally making the issue controversial for political gains. They asked the State government why it is not delivering the pensions though it has sufficient secretariat staff to deliver the pension.
