Several political pundits expressed views in favour of TDP during the last six months. The situation changed after January 15 with a common feeling that the YSR Congress was improving its prospects following the strong decisions of the party’s leadership.
Presently the anti-incumbency factor plays a dominant role in various sections of people including the middle class. The halting of Amaravati capital construction, unemployment and no implementation of job calendar promise, lack of business opportunities especially in infra and real estate fields, high prices of liquor and sand policy, have me in electricity charges, increasing prices of essential commodities, fear from police cases and recent Land Titling Act issues are major factors for anti-incumbency.
Moreover, the TDP has announced the welfare schemes more than the assurances of the YSR Congress manifesto including free gas cylinders, free bus facility for women, Rs 4000 pension, Rs 20,000 for farmers annually and Rs 1500 monthly financial aid for women.
Apart from this, the YSR Congress government’s strength of volunteers backfired when the Election Commission deprived them of election-related work. Moreover, Chandrababu Naidu offering Rs 10,000 monthly honorarium for volunteers turned out to be a big jolt to the YSR Congress.
The plan of the YSR Congress made them resign from utilising their services for party work in the present election. The majority of volunteers have not resigned from their positions since the TDP’s new announcement. Now the second-rung leaders of YSR Congress are not in a happy mood due to the fact that they lost their leadership role with the volunteer system. It is also a setback to the YSR Congress in some rural areas.
The present situation has been changing in favour of the TDP as per the views of the majority of people and studies of various organisations. The Central intelligence agencies have exchanged the same information with the government heads. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have shared their views with the NDA leaders in their recent visit, as per the reports.
