TDP government renames ‘Spandana’ to ‘Public Grievance Redressal System’

The Capital News

Vijayawada: June 15 The newly reinstated TDP government has decided to rename the ‘Spandana’ program, established by the previous YSR Congress government, back to the ‘Public Grievance Redressal System’.

The government recognized several implementation errors in the existing Spandana program designed to handle complaints and suggestions regarding government departments from the public.

Chief secretary Nirab Kumar Prasad has issued a memo to all District Collectors regarding the Public Grievance Redressal System, indicating that the orders will take immediate effect.

When the Telugu Desam Party came to power in 2014, the program was originally organized under the name of the ‘Public Grievance Redressal System’. However, in 2019, the YSR Congress government renamed it to ‘Spandana’ for better recall and easier understanding. With the TDP’s return to power, orders have been issued to revert to the original name.

During his previous tenure, chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu had established the Prajavedika at his residence in Undavalli to address State-level grievances. Upon assuming office in 2019, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to demolish the Prajavedika and instead hold a ‘Prajadarbar’ at his residence in Tadepalli. The TDP has criticized the delay in conducting the Prajadarbar over the past five years, alleging that the lack of timely response under former CM Jagan led to unresolved public issues.
