Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin Expresses Grief Over Kuwait Fire Tragedy; Directs Aid for Affected Tamils

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin expressed shock and grief over the Kuwait fire accident, which resulted in the death of ‘over 40 Indians’. He has directed state authorities to determine if any Tamils were affected by the tragic incident. Stalin conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and stated that all the injured are receiving treatment at hospitals in Kuwait. He also mentioned that the Ministry of External Affairs is coordinating with the Indian Embassy and Tamil associations in Kuwait. Additionally, the Commissionerate of Rehabilitation and Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils has been directed to assist in identifying workers from Tamil Nadu who may have been affected. The Commissionerate has provided helpline numbers (+91 1800 309 3793 within India and +91 80 6900 9900, +91 80 6900 9901 for calls from abroad) to get the Tamil Nadu government’s support. The fire incident in Kuwait’s Mangaf city, which occurred on June 12, resulted in the tragic loss of 49 foreign workers, including approximately 40 Indians, and left 50 others injured.
