The Supreme Court bench, led by Justice BR Gavai, concluded the hearing on the petition concerning the vote-for-note case, expressing reservations about the trial process. BRS MLA G Jagadish Reddy had sought the transfer of the trial to Bhopal, prompting the three-judge bench to consider the matter seriously.
“We have full faith in our judicial system,” Justice Gavai remarked during the proceedings. “To ensure confidence in everyone’s mind, we will appoint a special prosecutor without objection.” Jagadish Reddy’s counsel highlighted concerns over the case, pointing out that the accused, Revanth Reddy, currently serves as Telangana’s Chief Minister, with the Home Department, overseeing the investigating agency ACB, under his jurisdiction. Allegations of intimidation by Revanth Reddy during political rallies were also raised, influencing the case’s dynamics.
Justice Gavai affirmed that the decision to appoint a special prosecutor would be meticulously considered by the Supreme Court, consulting colleagues from Telangana to ensure impartiality. The three-judge bench subsequently dismissed the petition, emphasizing their confidence in the judicial process. Justice Gavai reiterated, “We will appoint a special prosecutor without objection, maintaining transparency and trust in our judiciary.”
