Sujana Chowdary: Former Union Minister Y Sujana Chowdary’s contest from Vijayawada West constituency impressed the politicians including the leaders of major political parties, analysts, and experts.
He contested on a BJP ticket for the first time in his political career to participate in a direct election. Earlier, he was elected to Rajya Sabha only. He started the second innings after shifting loyalties from the TDP to the BJP.
Indeed, the majority of voters had the opinion that Sujana Chowdary would contest for Vijayawada Lok Sabha. But he had to contest for Assembly due to various political compulsions.
However, his selection for the Vijayawada West Assembly seat surprised the political pundits at one point. The Assembly segment is treated as a place for the majority of Muslims and scheduled castes.
Even though he contested as an NDA candidate with TDP and Jana Sena support, the majority of Muslims and SCs vote bank is a challenge to Sujana Chowdary.
So far, the TDP won only one time in the Vijayawada West Assembly segment in 1983. Later, the Communist Party of India won three times, Congress party won five times, the erstwhile PRP one time, YSR Congress won two terms in the constituency. The majority of voters in the constituency are believed to be anti-BJP.
As per the ground reports, the Sujana Chowdary contest is now a hot topic everywhere. He successfully utilised the situation. He consolidated the vote bank of different communities and walks of life even though they have a minor share of voting. He divided the senior leaders for each division by fixing the responsibility. He utilised all efforts to win the seat.
Apart from this, the sizeable section of the trading community, Amaravati’s capital city impact, and development works in the previous government including the construction of the flyover turned into supporting points for him.
As a result, his election would be a model for the BJP and other parties if he wins the election. The ground reports reveal that YS Sujana Chowdary has an advantage by dominating the YSR Congress candidate. Interestingly, he greeted the YSR Congress’s candidate Asif Shaik when he faced off during the election campaign.
In one word to say about his election, he collected every flower to make a bouquet. However, the voters should wait until June 4th for the counting day.
