Over the years, Stree gained a cult following and the brand became so big that its sequel demolished the Hindi box office and how! Stree 2, which is having an unprecedented run at the box office right now, has exceeded all expectations as it has beaten Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever.
Yes, you read that right! Shraddha and Rajkummar starrer horror-comedy is now the highest-grossing film in the history of Bollywood. Showing no signs of slowing down whatsoever in its 5th week as well, Stree 2 has overtaken the Hindi lifetime total of SRK’s Jawan, which reigned supreme as the biggest-ever Hindi film for almost a year.
Jawan, also starring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and Deepika Padukone, collected Rs 584 crore in its lifetime at the Hindi box office. Stree 2, on its 34th day of release, crossed the milestone figure, minting Rs 586 crore thus far. At its current pace, the Amar Kaushik directorial looks set to inaugurate the Rs 600 crore club for Bollywood.
