A significant explosion happened at the Kudigattu hydropower station in Srisailam. The incident occurred in unit number seven where the condenser burned and exploded, causing loud noises. The employees were confused at first, not knowing what had happened as the flood level in the reservoir was too high. In response, power generation in unit number seven was immediately stopped. After identifying the issue as a technical error, the authorities repaired the burnt condenser. Steps have been taken to resume power supply.
Additionally, the flood elevation of Srisailam reservoir has slightly decreased. The project inflow is at 99,615 cusecs while the outflow is at 181,235 cusecs. As a result, the reservoir’s gates were raised by 10 feet, and water was released downstream. Although the full water level of the project is 885 feet, it has currently reached 883.50 feet..
