Sharmila questions the appointment of Sudhakar Reddy as AAG by Jagan

Vijayawada: April 28: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila has once again ignited controversy with serious allegations against additional advocate general Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy.

Sharmila claimed that Sudhakar Reddy played a role in including the name of the late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the cases filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) related to ongoing cases involving Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Asserting that Sudhakar Reddy is an “obscure person,” Sharmila questioned the decision to appoint him as the additional advocate general within just six days after the YSRCP coming to power in Andhra Pradesh.

She criticised the lack of public knowledge about Sudhakar Reddy, alleging that he filed petitions in court on behalf of Jagan Mohan Reddy and was instrumental in adding YSR’s name to the CBI cases.

“This is a fact. A former Congress party leader informed me of this truth. However, Sudhakar Reddy is angry with me for disclosing these facts,” Sharmila stated, directly implicating Jagan Mohan Reddy for appointing Sudhakar Reddy and attributing the addition of YSR’s name to the ongoing legal issues.

However, Sudhakar Reddy has already clarified that the allegations and petitions leading to the inclusion of YSR’s name in the CBI’s FIRs and chargesheets were made by the then Congress MLA Shankar Rao and TDP leader Kinjarapu Yerrannaidu in 2011. He urged Sharmila to provide concrete evidence instead of making baseless accusations and offered to engage in an open debate on the matter.

Meanwhile, former CBI joint director VV Lakshmi Narayana, who investigated the Jagan cases, refuted Sharmila’s claims, stating that the CBI does not add names to cases based solely on advocates’ petitions and that such actions are part of the investigative process.
