Sea recession at Hamsaladeevi sparks concerns among locals, fishermen

The sea at Hamsaladeevi in Krishna district has mysteriously receded by approximately 50 meters from the shore, raising alarm among local residents and fishermen who fear this could be an ominous sign of an impending disaster. While heavy rains have caused flooding in various parts of the State, the unusual receding of the sea along the coast has sparked concerns.

Adding to the worries is the noticeable absence of wind in the coastal areas, which has deepened suspicions. This phenomenon was first observed at Palakayathippa beach in Hamsaladeevi, located in the Koduru mandal, and has since been reported at other coastal areas, including Visakhapatnam beach, where the sea has receded by 50 to 100 meters, exposing rocks that were previously submerged.

Despite the concerns, the exposed sand has given the beaches a more scenic appearance, attracting curious onlookers. Locals remain apprehensive, with many recalling past incidents where unusual sea activity preceded disasters.
