A technical glitch in the signaling system near Vikhroli station disrupted suburban train services on the Main line of the Mumbai suburban network during rush hour on Thursday morning. The glitch, which occurred around 7 am on the UP (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-bound) fast line, caused delays of about an hour for some local trains. The issue was resolved at 8:05 am. As a result, commuters experienced delays of 20 to 30 minutes, leading to overcrowding on trains and at stations. Some commuters even resorted to walking on the tracks to reach the next station and find alternative modes of transport, causing frustration among passengers. One commuter, Mandar Abhyankar, expressed his dissatisfaction on Facebook, highlighting the regular delays and the lack of timely announcements for platform changes or cancellations. The disruption affected more than 30 lakh commuters who rely on the Central Railway’s suburban network, which operates over 1,800 services daily across Raigad and Thane districts outside Mumbai.
