Amaravati: Member of Parliament Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju (RRR) is likely to contest from TDP for either Assembly or Lok Sabha. According to sources, the TDP is interested in allotting the seat for RRR. It may be noted that he expected the ticket for Narsampuram Lok Sabha from BJP. But the BJP has selected Srinivasa Varma as the party nominee.
Since then RRR’s seat issue has become a hot topic in Andhra Pradesh politics. Though he could not get a BJP ticket he started his efforts again to set the situation right. He met BJP’s top leadership recently. TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu suggested him to contest on TDP ticket in the past. He did not take the opportunity due to RRR being interested in contesting from BJP only.
However, he realised the changed situation and decided to contest from TDP. Now the BJP is ready to extend cooperation to RRR. The sources said that the BJP and the TDP may exchange Lok Sabha seats. If BJP allots the Narsapuram Lok Sabha seat to TDP, sitting MP RRR can contest from there. The TDP will allot the Eluru Lok Sabha to the BJP. Otherwise, there is an alternative proposal. RRR is likely to contest from Undi Assembly on TDP ticket. During the process, if the BJP accepts to sacrifice the Narsapuram for RRR he can contest from there also. The chances are very less, said a senior TDP leader. But the RRR will contest for either Assembly or Lok Sabha, said.
