Skipper Rohit Sharma demonstrated how to bat on a pitch with low bounce as India did well to reach 171 for seven in the rain-interrupted second semifinal of the T20 World Cup against England on Thursday. Virat Kohli was dismissed early while attempting to increase the scoring rate, but Rohit (57 off 39 balls) found a capable partner in Suryakumar Yadav (47 off 36), and together they propelled India to a challenging total. The highly anticipated match was affected by intermittent rain, leading to a delayed start of play by one hour and 15 minutes. Another interruption occurred when India were 65 for two in eight overs. An additional 250 minutes have been allotted to the game, with no reserve day available. When Rohit and Kohli came out to bat after England chose to field, it became evident that the pitch was slower with low bounce, making it more challenging for the batsmen. Both Rohit and Kohli attempted to take on the pace duo of Reece Topley and Jofra Archer early in the innings but were unsuccessful. Kohli consistently charged down the pitch against both Topley and Archer, but without success. He managed to connect with one delivery from Topley, hitting a six over mid-wicket before getting dismissed two balls later. Kohli attempted the same shot again but was bowled, extending his lean run in the tournament.
