On Wednesday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a meeting with senior officials to discuss a 100-day action plan aimed at strengthening the agriculture sector and alleviating distress among farmers. The meeting was attended by Ministers of State for Agriculture Ramnath Thakur and Bhagirath Choudhary, Agriculture Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and other top officers.
Chouhan emphasized the need to ensure that quality inputs reach farmers to enhance farm production and productivity nationwide. The action plan not only aims to achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural products but also to improve the quality of exports from the sector.
The minister stressed the importance of providing farmers with access to high-quality seeds, fertilizers, and other essential inputs to increase crop yields and improve their economic condition. Given the challenges faced by the agriculture sector such as erratic monsoons, pest attacks, and fluctuating market prices, the 100-day action plan is considered crucial to reviving the fortunes of the farming community.
The action plan is expected to be implemented in the coming days, with specific targets and timelines for each state and crop cycle.
