Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Ministers and Legislators will visit Medigadda Barrage which is part of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project today (February 13). Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers, MLAs and MLCs will leave the assembly for Medigadda in buses. Legislators from all parties were invited for Revanth’s visit, but the opposition BRS as well as the BJP decided not to visit the Madigadda barrage with the CM.

Pre-election scandal:
The National Dam Safety Authority sent a fact-finding team after some piers of the Medigadda barrage sank a few months ago. This incident created a big uproar before the assembly elections. The then opposition Congress made allegations of large-scale corruption in the project. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with Revanth Reddy also visited Medigadda Barrage on November 2. Kaleswaram has become a key issue against the BRS government, where the Congress won the assembly elections held on November 30. After Congress came to power, it announced a judicial inquiry into the demolition of the Medigadda piers.

Many accusations.. Answers?
On December 29, five state ministers led by Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy visited Medigadda Barrage. Even though the pier sank on October 21, neither the then Chief Minister KCR nor the Irrigation Minister reviewed the damage and did not make any announcement. Congress is alleging that cracks have also appeared in Annaram barrage and sand erosion has taken place in Sundilla, the third barrage. Last week, Revanth Reddy invited opposition leader and former CM Chandrasekhar Rao to come on an official visit to Medigadda Barrage. KCR was invited to discuss irrigation projects in the Assembly.

Dumma to the Assembly:
Yesterday the Irrigation Department gave a power point presentation in the Assembly. KCR was not present for this. Revanth Reddy strongly objected to KCR’s absence from the discussion on the crucial issue. He said that the opposition leader’s absence from the assembly is an insult to the Telangana community. On the other hand, KCR will attend the BRS open meeting in Nalgonda today. The BRS is organizing this meeting to protest against the Congress government handing over projects on the Krishna River to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB). But Congress denied these allegations. The assembly passed a resolution on Monday clarifying that Telangana is not ready to unconditionally hand over joint projects on Krishna to KRMB
