After two days without rain, it rained in most parts of Mumbai on Friday morning, providing relief to citizens from the hot and humid weather. The showers began with thunder, but there were no reports of major waterlogging in the city, according to a civic official. The official also mentioned that the public transport services, including the railways and BEST bus undertaking, were mostly operating normally, with some minor delays. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a “generally cloudy sky with the possibility of light to moderate rain in the city and suburbs” in the next 24 hours. Since the onset of monsoon over Mumbai on June 9, earlier than the normal date of its arrival on June 11, the rains had stayed away from the city for the last two days, making the weather sultry.
