Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stated on Friday that he would ensure equal development for Amethi and Rae Bareli if his party comes to power at the Centre. Rahul, who is contesting the Lok Sabha poll from Rae Bareli in place of his mother Sonia Gandhi, assured that if Rs 10 is spent for development work in Rae Bareli, the same amount would be spent in Amethi.
He made this promise while addressing a joint rally with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in support of Congress candidate K L Sharma.
Rahul also reiterated the party’s promise of providing Rs 8,500 to each youth per month if the party forms government at the Centre.
Additionally, he mentioned the party’s plan to do away with the Agniveer scheme for recruitment in the armed forces and bring back the permanent appointment system with the provision of pension.
Rahul and Akhilesh are scheduled to address another rally in Rae Bareli later in the day, and Sonia Gandhi is expected to be present.
