Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the ‘Surya Arghya’ ritual during sunrise at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial as part of his meditation exercise. The ritual involves offering prayers to the sun as a form of salutation to the Almighty. A video posted by the BJP showed the Prime Minister pouring water into the sea as an offering and praying with folded hands using prayer beads. Modi, dressed in a saffron shirt, shawl, and dhoti, was seen meditating at the Dhyan Mandapam, surrounded by burning incense sticks. Kanyakumari is known for its beautiful sunrise and sunset, and the Vivekananda Rock Memorial is located on a tiny islet near the shoreline. The Prime Minister began his meditation on the evening of May 30 and is expected to conclude it on the evening of June 1.
