Prakasam Barrage: Process of removing boats has become complicated. Vijayawada, September 15: The process of removing the barges blocked by Prakasam Barrage gates due to floods is still ongoing. However, removing these boats has become difficult. Despite several efforts, no progress has been made so far. The Abbulu team is now working on a new plan to remove the boats.
Today, they plan to implement the water loading plan which involves bringing six cargo boats from Gollapudi, two of which will be completely filled with water and locked to the boats. The rescue operation was hindered when one of the boats stuck in the river sank, increasing the weight on the crane. While one of the blocked boats was brought ten feet forward from the Prakasam Barrage gates, efforts are also being made to pull out the submerged boat.
However, the underwater operation is facing challenges due to high water pressure, rough currents, and difficulty in cutting the boat completely. Water is entering the boat from the cut holes, making the situation more complex. The Abbulu team is working on a new plan to address these challenges. Due to heavy rains, the Krishna River, Budameru, and Munner have overflowed, causing flooding in the surrounding areas of Vijayawada.
This resulted in the displacement of heavy boats parked on the shore, some of which got stuck and blocked the gates of Prakasam Barrage, disrupting the flow of water. To address this, the government has formed the Abbulu team, which is dedicated to removing the stranded boats.
