Powering Progress: State’s High-Capacity Data Centers for AI and ML Advancements

The state government is in the process of establishing a powerful, high-capacity data center that will accommodate 2,300 concurrent users for running artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) applications, according to an official’s statement on Friday.

This data center will facilitate the practical application of data science by providing the necessary infrastructure to support advanced data analysis. The official, who requested anonymity, shared this information on the sidelines of the Data Science 2024 Conference. As per the official, the state already possesses advanced infrastructure that supports over 5,000 users in real-time.

Additionally, another data center with a focus on AI and ML is being constructed with a capacity of 2,300 concurrent users. The official stated that this new data center is being established to address the increasing demand and capacity requirements. Once operational, the data load will be distributed between the two centers.

While the primary beneficiary of this new facility will be the government, there are plans to grant some startups access to the infrastructure for advanced data analytics, the official mentioned.

Officials of West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Limited (Webel) emphasized that robust infrastructure and the necessary tools and processes are essential for effective data science. This includes high-performance computing services, secure data centers, and comprehensive data management systems.
