The vintage model, made of 92.5% silver and featuring intricate filigree work, pays homage to the steam locomotive era, combining artistic mastery with historical significance.
Symbolizing the strong ties between India and the U.S., the model was personalized with the inscription “DELHI-DELAWARE” on the main carriage and “INDIAN RAILWAYS” on the engine, written in both English and Hindi, following the format typically used on Indian passenger trains.
This piece not only showcases the artisans’ exceptional craftsmanship but also highlights the long and influential history of Indian railways. For First Lady Jill Biden, Prime Minister Modi chose a pashmina shawl, beautifully presented in a papier-mâché box.
