Three new judges will be joining the Andhra Pradesh High Court

Three new judges will be joining the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The Supreme Court’s collegium has recommended the names of three lawyers – Kunchem Maheswara Rao, TC Dhanasekhar, and Challa Gunaranjan – to be appointed as judges of the AP High Court. The decision was made in a meeting chaired by Chief Justice of India, Justice DY Chandrachud. The President needs to issue orders regarding their appointment. Currently, there are 26 judges in the High Court, and with the appointment of the three new judges, the number will increase to 29. Additionally, the Supreme Collegium has recommended Justice G. Narender as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court. Furthermore, the appointment of 37 judges in the AP High Court has been approved.

Kunchem Maheswara Rao:

  • Born on August 12, 1973, in Tirupati
  • Enrolled as an advocate on February 2, 1998
  • Practiced in the Anantapur District Court before joining the High Court
  • Currently working as a High Court Panel Advocate, representing organizations such as Bar Council of India, FCI, and various insurance companies

TC Dhanasekhar:

  • Born on June 10, 1975, in Satyavedu, Tirupati district
  • Enrolled as an advocate in 1999
  • Appointed as Government Advocate in 2019, representing the Commercial Taxes Department
  • Has experience in civil, criminal, revenue, tax, and land acquisition laws

Challa Gunaranjan:

  • Born on July 12, 1976, in Tadipatri, Anantapur district
  • Enrolled as an advocate on March 21, 2001
  • Has been practicing as a lawyer for two decades in the Supreme Court, AP, Telangana High Courts, and various tribunals
  • Has extensive experience in arguing power, environmental, civil, criminal, and tax-related cases
