Amaravati : June 22: Deputy chief minister K Pawan Kalyan delivered a poignant address to the newly elected Speaker Ch Ayyannapatrudu in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, urging a shift towards responsible leadership.
“We have heard your heated and sharp words for years; now, we will hear from you words that show the way with responsibility,” Pawan Kalyan stated. He emphasised that debate and disagreement are fundamental to discussions, not insults and fights. Speaking for the first time as deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan congratulated Ayyannapatrudu and shared his vision for the Assembly.
He urged the Speaker to lead with responsibility and highlighted the need to lay a strong foundation for Andhra Pradesh’s progress by 2047. Reflecting on the legacy of Potti Sriramulu, he said, “Each day of fast unto death done by Potti Sriramulu while approaching death is equal to one and a half years.
This precious five-year reign should set the tone for generations to come. I wish that cattle, birds, and trees should also be good.” Minister for HRD and IT, Nara Lokesh, also spoke highly of Ayyannapatrudu, describing him as a dedicated and principled leader. “Ayyannapatrudu means everyone’s character,” Lokesh stated, praising his constant fight for the people and commitment to one party and one flag.
Lokesh criticised the previous YSRCP government for harassing Ayyannapatrudu with illegal cases, which he claimed diminished the respect of the Legislative Assembly. He called on the Speaker to guide the members in respecting the traditions of the House and enhancing its prestige.
Addressing the NDA legislators, Lokesh underscored the importance of acting in the people’s interest. “Even if there is no opposition status, even if there is no opposition in the House, we should fight on behalf of the people as the opposition,” he remarked, encouraging a proactive and people-centric approach despite the political dynamics.
