Odisha Government Expands ‘Mo’ Bus Fleet with 400 E-Buses under PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme

The Odisha government has announced the addition of 400 e-buses to the ‘Mo’ Bus fleet as part of the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme. Housing and Urban Development department minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra made this announcement. Mahapatra took a ‘Mo’ Bus from Master Canteen to Press Square and interacted with commuters to learn about their experiences with the city bus service. He mentioned that out of the current 400 buses in operation, 63 are e-buses and all buses will eventually be e-buses. The government plans to allocate 100 e-buses each for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Rourkela, and 50 for Sambalpur.We aim to cater to the citizens’ needs and will expand the bus service as necessary, said Mahapatra. Mahapatra later visited the Mo Bus electric depot at Gadakana, where he discussed increasing bus frequency on busy routes with CRUT officials. Currently, 463 CRUT buses operate on 95 routes in the capital region (Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Puri), Rourkela, Sambalpur, and Berhampur, accommodating an average of 2.5 lakhs riders per day.
