MLC Duvvada accuses wife of political betrayal

• Dance teacher Madhuri becomes pillar of support

The political landscape of Andhra Pradesh has been rocked by a scandal involving YSR Congress Party MLC Duvvada Srinivas, whose domestic strife has spiraled into a sensational public controversy. The turmoil began when Duvvada’s wife and two daughters staged an overnight protest outside his residence, accusing him of abandoning them for another woman.

The situation took a dramatic turn on Saturday when Duvvada held a press conference, making explosive allegations against his wife and unveiling a complex narrative that intertwines his personal and political life. In his address, Duvvada revealed that the woman at the center of the controversy, Divvela Madhuri, is a dance teacher introduced to him by his wife, Vani. He claimed that Vani’s actions led to the spread of rumors about an illicit relationship between him and Madhuri, which eventually drove Madhuri to the brink of suicide.

In a bid to prevent a tragedy, Duvvada stated that he became emotionally involved with Madhuri, especially during a period of estrangement from his wife. He expressed his intent to seek a divorce, stating, “I will divorce my wife. Notices will be sent soon,” he said. Duvvada further alleged that Madhuri had been a steadfast supporter during his toughest times, even contributing a substantial Rs 2 crore to assist him during his election campaign. He contrasted Madhuri’s loyalty with what he described as his family’s betrayal, stating that his wife and children have now turned against him.

He painted a picture of Madhuri as a vital figure in his life, particularly when he was at his lowest, while accusing his wife of conspiring with his political adversaries to undermine his career. In a serious accusation, Duvvada claimed that his wife had colluded with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) minister Achchennaiudi, suggesting that this alliance was a deliberate attempt to sabotage his political career. He lamented that this conspiracy, which he alleges began before the elections, contributed to his defeat, turning his personal life into a political weapon.

Duvvada also expressed disappointment over what he described as neglect from his wife towards his extended family, including his younger brother and mother, despite his efforts to support them. He questioned, “What did I do wrong to deserve this?” and alleged that his wife had even physically attacked him. Duvvada said that if anything were to happen to him, Minister Achchennaiudi would be held responsible.
