Vijayawada: June 23: In a sweeping administrative move, the Andhra Pradesh government has carried out a large-scale transfer of district collectors, marking a significant shift in the bureaucratic landscape. Chief secretary Nirabh Kumar Prasad has issued orders to seven collectors, including prominent names such as Visakhapatnam collector Mallikarjun and Guntur collector M Venugopal Reddy, directing them to report to the General Administration Department (GAD) without specific postings. This shuffle has seen the appointment of new collectors for a total of 11 districts, with an impressive inclusion of six female collectors.

Following the victory of the Telugu Desam Party alliance, several senior IAS officers, including Guntur collector Venugopal Reddy, sought to meet with chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. However, it is reported that the chief minister showed no inclination to meet them, leading to Venugopal Reddy being left without a posting and ordered to report to the GAD. Similarly, Visakhapatnam collector has also been directed to report to the GAD, with the district joint collector assuming additional responsibilities as in-charge. The administrative changes include the transfer of Alluri District collector M Vijayasunitha, who has been replaced by Dinesh Kumar. Sagili Shanmohan has been appointed as the Kakinada District collector, while K Vetri Selvi takes charge as the Eluru District collector. Other appointments include P Prashanthi for East Godavari district, BR Ambedkar for Vizianagaram district, C Nagarani for West Godavari district, Sumit Kumar for Chittoor district, G. Srijana for NTR district, Tamim Ansaria for Prakasam district, and Ranjit Basha for Kurnool district. The District joint collector of Bapatla has been entrusted with full additional responsibilities as the Collector in place of the current Guntur Collector Venugopal Reddy, who, along with several others including Allur District collector M Vijaysunitha, Kakinada collector J Niwas, Eluru collector Prasanna Venkatesh, East Godavari District collector Madhavilatha, and NTR District collector Delhi Rao, has been kept pending for posting and directed to report to the GAD.
