Maintaining ‘Red Book’ not big deal, Jagan criticizes TDP

In a sharp critique of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the Nara Chandrababu Naidu-led government of fostering an “unprecedented evil tradition” through the maintenance of a “red book” to gain favor with political opponents.

Speaking at a meeting with party leaders in Mangalagiri, YS Jagan revealed that despite his instructions to the contrary, some members of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) have also begun maintaining similar books to track wrongdoers. “Is it a big deal to maintain a red book like the Telugu Desam Party? Even though I told them not to, our people are also starting to keep these books, writing down the names of those who have done wrong,” Jagan remarked, expressing disappointment over the practice. However, he added that the YSRCP has also started maintaining a “good book” to recognize and reward those who have worked hard for the party, ensuring future opportunities for them.

YS Jagan used the occasion to highlight the achievements of the YSRCP government during its five-year rule, emphasizing the party’s unwavering commitment to its manifesto promises. He stated that YSRCP is the only party in Andhra Pradesh that has delivered on its promises, implementing welfare schemes regularly through a welfare calendar aligned with the state budget. “We have done good for every household during these five years. Every home can proudly stand by us,” he declared, listing the successful implementation of various schemes.

He noted that despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the YSRCP government never made excuses and ensured the continuous delivery of welfare benefits. Jagan highlighted significant improvements in the State’s education, healthcare, and agriculture sectors, particularly the introduction of free crop insurance and the focus on village-level healthcare. Jagan also emphasized that the welfare programs were distributed fairly, without political bias, reaching even those who did not vote for the YSRCP. “At every doorstep, we have provided pensions, rations, and welfare schemes,” he said, adding that the government had ensured security for women through initiatives like the Disha app.
