Vijayawada: For the first time, an Airbus-340 aircraft landed at Vijayawada International Airport on Monday morning. This flight, operated by Legend Airlines, arrived to transport Hajj pilgrims, marking a significant milestone for the airport.
The airport authorities welcomed the large aircraft with a ceremonial water cannon salute, an honor typically reserved for inaugural flights. The event drew considerable attention from the local community, who had anticipated the arrival of larger aircraft following the airport’s elevation to international status but had never witnessed one first hand. Unlike typical flights that carry around 200 passengers, the Airbus 340 can accommodate between 300 to 350 passengers, highlighting its substantial capacity advantage.
