Lakhs of rupees for security of Visakhapatnam’s Swarupananda Swami

Vishakapatnam: As the new government in Andhra Pradesh, led by Nara Chandrababu Naidu, takes charge, speculations abound regarding the fate of security arrangements for Visakhapatnam’s Sarada Peetha’s revered figure, Swami Swaroopananda. Known for his proximity to former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Swaroopananda’s security detail, previously provided by the YCP government, is reportedly on the chopping block. The Chandrababu Naidu-led government is said to be planning the removal of the security extended to Swaroopananda. Furthermore, there are murmurs of an impending investigation into allegations of irregularities and injustices allegedly linked to Swami Swaroopananda’s past actions. The first step in this process seems to be the withdrawal of a portion of his security detail. Under the previous administration, Swaroopananda was allocated a security contingent comprising four gunmen and six personnel manning a picket, with oversight by a sub-inspector. Additionally, a protocol car was part of the security package, translating to significant monthly costs estimated in lakhs for the government. These developments signal a potentially turbulent time ahead for Swami Swaroopananda.
