Jagan, not the rightful successor of YSR: Sharmila

The Capital News

Kadapa: April 8: Andhra Pradesh Congress president Y S Sharmila made strong statements, asserting that her brother, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is not the rightful successor to their father, YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Sharmila, daughter of the former chief minister and sister of YSRCP leader Jagan Mohan Reddy, criticized her brother’s governance, alleging significant differences between his rule and their father’s. She was addressing the gathering at Mydukuru constituency during his election campaign on Monday.

On this occasion,  Sharmila emphasised the lack of resemblance between YSR’s administration and Jagan’s governance, accusing the latter’s regime of engaging in what she termed as “murderous politics.” She also accused the YSRCP government of shielding the killers of their uncle, YS Vivekananda Reddy, former Kadapa MP who was murdered in March 2019.

YS Avinash Reddy, Sharmila’s cousin and an accused in Vivekananda Reddy murder case, is also the YSRCP candidate from Kadapa. Sharmila vehemently opposed his candidature, stating that he should not be allowed to enter Parliament. She announced her own candidature from the same constituency, highlighting her intention to fight against perceived injustices.

Sharmila further criticised the YSRCP government for its alleged neglect of farmers and its failure to fulfill promises such as prohibition, instead allowing liquor sales at inflated prices without proper accountability. She contrasted this with the prosperity and respect farmers enjoyed during her father’s tenure as CM.
