India’s coal production rises 14 pc in June

The country’s coal production increased by 14.49 percent to 84.63 million tonnes (MT) in June compared to 73.92 MT in June of the previous fiscal year, according to provisional government figures. Coal India Ltd (CIL) produced 63.10 MT in June, marking an 8.87 percent increase over the same period last year, as stated by the coal ministry. Additionally, India’s coal dispatch in June totaled 85.76 MT, a 10.15 percent increase from the previous year. As of June 30, coal stock held by coal companies surged to 95.02 MT, indicating a remarkable annual growth rate of 41.68 percent, highlighting the strong performance and efficiency of the coal sector. At the same time, coal stock at thermal power plants (TPP) also notably increased to 46.70 MT (Provisional) on the same date, exhibiting an annual growth rate of 30.15 percent. Coal India remains the largest contributor to domestic coal production, accounting for over 80 percent of the total output.
