Commonwealth Games gold medallist Shreyasi Singh is set to compete in the ISSF Shotgun World Cup, which begins in Lonato, Italy on Wednesday. India will have a full-strength three-member team in both the men’s and women’s trap events. Winning medals at this World Cup can help the shooters secure points towards qualifying for the Paris Olympics, before the official announcement of the shotgun squad. India has already announced a 15-member Rifle and Pistol squad for the Paris Games next month. The 12-member Lonato team includes shooters who are still vying for Paris berths, especially in men’s and women’s trap and women’s skeet, so the Indian shooters are expected to give their best performances. In the men’s trap event, Prithviraj Tondaiman, Vivaan Kapoor, and Bhowneesh Mendiratta will be competing, while in the women’s trap event, Rajeshwari Kumari, Shreyasi, and Manish Keer will represent India. The top six in each event will advance to the finals, which are scheduled for Thursday after the final two rounds of qualification.
