The Hingoli administration in Maharashtra has urged parents of students studying in Kyrgyzstan, which has been affected by violence, to get in touch with the district disaster management office if they encounter any issues, officials said.
Around 500 students from Maharashtra are currently pursuing medical education in Kyrgyzstan, and there is a possibility that they may face challenges due to the violence, the Hingoli district administration stated in a release on Tuesday.
Following mob violence targeting international students, especially from South Asia, in the Kyrgyz capital city of Bishkek, the Indian government advised its students there to stay indoors.
The Hingoli administration has appealed to the parents of students studying in Kyrgyzstan to contact the district disaster management office if they have any concerns, the release mentioned.
The local administration in Kyrgyzstan has decided to conduct the examination of these students online, it added.
The release also stated that the students may return to India next month.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had advised Indian students to stay in regular contact with the Indian embassy. The Indian embassy in Kyrgyzstan said it was in touch with students and that the situation is currently calm.
