Despite the recent floods in Andhra Pradesh, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning about another potential threat. The department has predicted heavy rain in several regions of Andhra Pradesh due to a continuing surface circulation over North Andhra, West Bay of Bengal, and North West Bay of Bengal. There is a possibility of the formation of a low-pressure system by Thursday.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rains in North Coast Andhra and South Coast Andhra regions in the next 24 hours. Orange alerts have been issued for Palnadu, Eluru, and NTR districts, while yellow alerts have been issued for Alluri Sitamaraju district, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, and Krishna districts.
The department has also warned about heavy gusty winds along the coast due to the influence of the low-pressure system. People, especially fishermen, have been advised to be cautious and avoid venturing into the sea. This warning comes after the recent heavy rains and floods that affected many areas, including Vijayawada. Many people were left homeless and faced food shortages.
Although the flood levels have decreased and the rain has stopped for now, the Meteorological Department has once again issued a high alert, urging people to stay vigilant. In the past 24 hours, moderate rains were reported in several districts of the state, with Kaikaluru receiving 6 cm of rainfall and Vijayawada recording 4 cm of rainfall, among other heavily affected areas.
