Vijayawada: June 3: Heightened security measures for election vote counting have been put in place across Andhra Pradesh due to anticipated post-counting violence. The police have increased their presence in districts like Palnadu, Anantapur, and Tirupati, which have seen violence before. Intelligence sources warned of potential violence, leading to heavy police deployment in all constituencies. Central armed forces and neighboring state police have also joined in to boost security.
Key political figures’ residences and party offices, including those of TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and chief minister YS Jagan, have been fortified. Section 144 has been imposed at counting centers, and rowdy elements statewide face city bans. CCTV surveillance is active in problematic areas. Border regions like Tada and Ichchapuram have reinforced security and surveillance.
Police surveillance will be continued for two weeks post-counting. Severe penalties await those inciting violence or breaking the law during this period
