Today, as Kareena turns 44, Saif Ali Khan opened up on his special plans for her birthday in an exclusive conversation with Zoom.
Saif Ali Khan, what have you planned for Kareena Kapoor’s birthday?
Family lunch with parents, and later, kids and us cooking dinner together. It is an intimate evening… music and some wine … We love doing that … The kids and I should probably make her breakfast in the morning … if I can mobilise them before she wakes up …What are the qualities that you admire the most about her?
Her loyalty and incredible warmth. She is the best most thoughtful friend to her friends. She is generous and kind, down-to-earth and a superstar all at the same moment. She is the most positive person I know. Her sense of balance in terms of work and family, and travel and being quiet at home, and multitasking to an incredible level ..I’ve never met anyone like her. I could go on … but it’s a bit lame (laughs).
And now you have competition in KKK’s doting department?
Yeah, Taimur, Jeh, and I dote on her. She is the light of our lives and home. We would be lost without her.
Cynics thought the marriage wouldn’t last twelve months. It’s been twelve years?
Touch wood. We have pictures from when we met and we have travelled the world together and grown up together. I was looking at them yesterday and I said, wow! We’ve been together a while! Touch wood. With God’s good grace, is all I can say Who knows what makes relationships last? The most perfect couples on paper don’t last. But what seems unorthodox at first goes the distance. You can never tell, I guess.
What is the secret recipe for your successful marriage?
There is no recipe! I’m lucky my wife is so patient and understanding. I’m sure we are as good or bad as everyone else. I do respect her tremendously though, and I love to see her smiling. So I guess that’s something.
